Symptoms, prevention and treatment of kennel cough in Chihuahuas


Chihuahua really enjoys the adventurous trips in park but there is also needs of great care. Because most of the dogs suffered from the kennel cough after such trips.

 

What is kennel cough? Kennel cough is a respiratory disease that lasts for few weeks. Though it is not a serious disorder but it is very important to take care of the puppy in a proper manner so the disease may not get severe.

 

Preventive measures: The best way to keep your puppy healthy is to take care of the Chihuahua and avoid such actions that may make puppy sick. If you want to travel by taking your puppy with you then place it in a dog show or in the dog obedience school where it interact with a numerous dogs. It will be helpful to make the immune system of dog stronger.

Contagious disease: A bacteria named bordatella is responsible to cause kennel cough which is highly contagious
disease. Normally, vaccines of such disease are not essential for the puppy that prefers to stay indoors. But if you are planning to take the puppy with you then there is a high risk of disease so it is important to vaccinate the Chihuahua to avoid any trouble.

 

Vaccines of kennel cough: There are two types of vaccines for this disease so you may take your puppy to the expert veterinarian and vaccinate your puppy by intranasal vaccine. In this type of vaccine, it is inhaled via nose. Another type of vaccine is injected to the puppy. This type of vaccine can be given to the puppy at the age of 4 weeks.

 

Symptoms of kennel cough: Signs and symptoms of kennel cough include vomiting and intense coughing. Owner should limit the activities of the puppy to avoid severe cough episodes.
